PMX viewer, in the browser
Drop a .pmx or .pmd with its texture folder, or the zip the model came in. The page draws it with its toon shading and lists the morphs under the author's own names.
How to open a PMX
- Drop the zip the model was distributed in, or the folder, or the .pmx with its textures selected together. An MMD model names its images by path, so they have to come along.
- Orbit and zoom. Open the morph list and pull a slider; the names are the ones the author gave, in Japanese where the author wrote them in Japanese.
- Read the panel: bones, materials, morphs, and which texture files were found and which the model asks for and did not get.
Why file names matter here
A PMX stores its texture paths as the author typed them, often in Japanese and often with backslashes. The viewer matches them to your files by name, case aside, and reports every image it could not find. A zip straight from the download usually works; a folder renamed or flattened by hand usually does not.
What the page does not do: no physics, so skirts and hair hang still; no VMD motions; no sphere maps and no self-shadow. Colours are close to MMD's own, not identical.
Questions
The model opened white.
The textures were not among the dropped files, or their names in the model do not match the files. Drop the original zip; the panel lists which images are missing.
Does it play motions?
No. The viewer shows the model and its morphs; VMD motions and physics are MikuMikuDance's job.
Does it open .pmd?
Yes, the older format too.
Is the model uploaded?
No. Everything is read and drawn in your browser.
Can this become a VRM?
Yes: the MMD to VRM converter maps the Japanese bone names onto the VRM humanoid and keeps the morphs as expressions. Check the model's terms of use first; many forbid conversion.
This model as a VRM or an FBX
The MMD to VRM converter makes an avatar for VTubing apps out of it; the PMX to FBX converter makes a file for Unity, Unreal or Blender.
